Business analytics is the transformation of data into insights that help businesses make better decisions. Because analytics involves multi-disciplinary processes, it falls at the intersection of computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics (particularly optimization), and business. The Department of Business Analytics in the Tippie College of Business has been at the forefront of research in analytics since the beginning. Our strengths lie in predictive analysis for health care, social issues, social media, and text. Tippie faculty have developed key methodologies in social network analysis and continuous optimization. We’re also internationally known for work in supply chain design and transportation, including humanitarian logistics and last-mile delivery.
The Department of Business Analytics offers a BBA in Business Analytics and Information Systems, a part-time and full-time MS in Business Analytics, and a PhD program. We are actively engaged with internationally-recognized companies and continuing to improve the learning experience for our students. Our work with companies is coordinated through the Tippie Analytics Cooperative, and we host an annual Analytics Case Competition and Women in Analytics and Leadership Conference (WALC).
